A short drive on Bison Basin Road (unpaved, but reasonably good condition) south of Sweetwater Station leads to this section of the old trail route. The modern dirt track is picturesque enough, but there are also ruts from the original wagon route visible in several places. The trail here is approaching the Sixth Crossing of the Sweetwater.
