The Final Approach to South Pass
After the 9th crossing, the trail stays on the south side of the Sweetwater, a good distance from the river
for much of the way on its final approach to the continental divide.
Initially trending south to southwest -- Continental Peak lies ahead, with the Oregon Buttes at the right.
Now trending decidedly west, the trail makes for the Oregon Buttes, eventually passing to their north (right).
