Upstream from Split Rock the Sweetwater Valley takes on a different character. The large domes of the Granite Mountains give way to the smaller "Rattlesnake hills", and the valley floor has more uninterrupted sage brush flats. But the profile of Split Rock is just as much a feature to the west as it was to the east.
